Pawing the pavement

30/04/2008 7:57:16 AM
THE ANNUAL Million Paws Walk is coming to Armidale and the RSPCA are inviting all pet owners to bring their furry four-legged companions along for a day of exercise and fun.

With thousands of paws expected to walk state wide, the event is the biggest of its kind in Australia. All funds raised help the RSPCA provide shelter, care and rehabilitation for thousands of sick, injured and abused animals.

The RSPCA in Australia cares for more than 40,000 pets each year and Carolyn Hayes, the publicity officer for the Armidale branch says the Million Paws Walk is a fun and exciting way to help raise funds.

“We’re inviting everyone. Whether you have a pet or not, come along for a fun day out and help celebrate the wonderful work of the RSPCA,” she said.

“The Million Paws Walk gives everyone the opportunity to have a great day with friends and animals combined, while raising much needed dollars for the Armidale RSPCA branch to continue its vital work in our community.”

The walk will take place at the Armidale Creeklands on May 18. Registration will open at 9am for a 10am start.

All animals attending must be vaccinated, micro chipped and on leads, or otherwise restrained.
