The Autumn fourball sponsored by Forsyths was played on Saturday.

The winners with 56 nett were Gary Hamilton and Stephen Frost.

Hamilton’s round included a hole in one on the 14th hole.

Runners-up were Grant Uphill and Ian Purvis with nett 58 on a countback from Simon Bird and Jeff Myers.

Fourth also with nett 58 were Lindsay Wittig and Jonathon Watson from Ken Hamilton and Steve Kelland on nett 59 from Geoff Clutterbuck and Roger Turner.

Nearest the pins were Geoff Clutterbuck on the fourth, Graeme Andrews on the seventh and Gary Hamilton on the 14th.

The ball comp went down to nett 65 on a countback.

Sunday

The Sunday Stableford was won by Gary Tuxford with 40 points from John Garner and Jim Hanlan with 39 points.

The ball comp went down to 34 points on a countback.

Thursday

The Thursday pro-shop comp saw some outstanding scores posted.

Kevin Russell was the winner with 46 points on a countback from Matt Green.

Matt’s round was a round of four-under-par 68.

Third with 45 points was Michael Crowley.

Nearest the pin on the seventh hole was Baxter Ward and the ball comp went down to 34 points on a countback.

Other news

This week’s major event is an individual stableford sponsored by Peter Schulz, Bob Johnson, Ian Garske and Bob Bourke.

A free membership is to be drawn with the stipulation that you must be in the clubhouse at presentation to be eligible to win.

Jessica Simpson won her first major event on Saturday and a celebration was required. After three bottles of champagne and little sleep her round on Sunday didn’t quiet reach the heroics of Saturday.

Tim Murray played a three-wood for safety on the 10th hole.

A seven iron might have been safer as it wouldn’t have reached the seventh dam.

Women’s

CongratulationS to Vanessa Ward for her win in the NEDGA district tournament at Glen Innes.

Vanessa played consistent golf in difficult conditions to take out the championship and the Northern Cup.

Lou Robertson was the worthy winner in third division with an excellent 67 nett on the first day which made it difficult for the field to catch her.

Jeannie Doolan and Narelle Gilby (Glen Innes) combined to win the foursomes with Helene Dawson and Robertson coming runners-up in the nett event.

A small field played an individual stableford on Wednesday and Carmel Berryman was the best with 39 points.

Helene Dawson and new player Jess Simpson combined well to take out the ladies trophy in the weekend autumn fourball sponsored by Forsyths.
